The Earthsea books have aways been my faves. I'm a huge huge fan of Ursula Le Guin. It is so exciting to see the miniseries is coming to scifi channel. I heard it combines the first two books in the series.

Earthsea has always been a favorite of mine. It's probably why I liked RS's work so mcuh. His story is a lot deeper and better, but LeGuin was one of my first scififantasy reads so it remains a favorite.

I have mixed emotions about this series. I liked parts 1 and 3, but I am not very fond of parts 2 and 4. The books lack action and tension, IMHO. They are very well-writen, though.

Did you get your name from the books, Sparhawk?

No. The Wizard from Earthsea is Sparrowhawk, and I'm Sparhawk, my name comes from other series - The Elenium by David Eddings.

What's the ellenium about? Does it connect with the Belgariad?

I don't know honestly about The Elenium. I thought Sparrowhark was a good character overall.

Trancemist, no, it is a separate series in different world. It's about an old knight, who is trying to safe the life of his poisoned queen. However, his enemies are not men only, but also powerful creatures from the past.

I'm glad that you do. "The Elenium" is similar, but probably better than "The Belgariad". It's darker and in the same time funnier, but with more adventures. The main character is extremely cool. ;D

Well I agree of course RS is much better than Earthsea. At least what I've read so far has been superior in just about every way. Still hard to forget old favorites especially some of the first fantasy reads.

The elenium is in a different world? Aw man, no more Garion, Silk, Mandorallen, Barak or Hettar? Is the Tamuil in a different world as well?
