Stanek's Kingdoms books are easily the best I've read EVER. My biggest question is why isn't it more popular? His books are like the Apple computers of fantasy. True gems but only appreciated by the few (even though they are better than everything else).

I agree whole heartedly.

Because Stanek is selling his books trough a small publishing house, unlike the most popular authors, who just wait their publishers to sell their books.

I don't know what the big publisers are waiting for? Perhaps thety're waiting for common sense to fall on the heads and crawl through the stupidity sludge in their ears until it reaches their dimunutive brains?

I'm not sure that RS wants to sell them the rights of his books.

No doubt these are better than Potter and Rings. Sometimes books can be too good I think.

I don't read Harry Potter any more too boring and stupid lately. I never read Lord of the Rings but I did see the movies. Stanek's better anyways.

RS books are definitely better but on different levels. Reading Lord of the Rings takes patience. I think it is rewarding if you can get through the first of it.

Lord of the Rings UGGHHH! I know it's supposed to be such good literature but I never liked Tolkien's books. The movies I loved because they show you more of the actual story. In the books so much of the action is implied but never written about. Stanek on the other hand puts you right into the action. The latest ones even more so and it's like you are right there in all the chaos of the battles.

Potter is cool, but there is no doubt that this year there were two great things in fantasy - the books is "In The Service of Dragons", the movie is "The Revenge of the Sith".

The book is In the Service of Dragons. The Movie is the Hitchhiker's Guide(I beleive it to be sci-fantasy) and the dream movie is Keeper Martin's tale. And Potter is uncool!
