It is because they are sinister and manipulative.

In most fantasy, there's one bad guy and his henchmen. In Stanek's books there's different groups of baddies just as there are different groups of goodies. that's very cool.

The many different baddies are excellent. They remain mysterious powers mostly but make for great reading. Definitely sinister and manipulative.

The thing about the different groups is very cool. For example the dragon king and the dark lord are obviously on different sides.

For sure, want to see more of them in the next books because they make it fun to read. I can't wait Stanek's Last Battle, that's got to be an awesome showdown.

Hey Sparhawk good to see you back on the boards. More magical battles would be excellent.
Hey Dragonlord is there a new book? I haven't seen anything called Last Battle.

I'm very interested, too I have been busy working about my own site. BTW, I have noticed the RS'blog about the Bulgarion edition of "Keeper Martin's Tale". As a Bulgarian, I'm very proud.

What I meant was how I don't think this is the end of the battle, more likely the beginning of the greater battles. If so, then Stanek has a Last Battle coming sort of like Lewis's great last Narnia book.

Comparisons to Lewis are interesting, both Narnia and ruin Mist are magnifecent series. Dragonlord, for nothing, it was my pleasure

I can see why Stanek is so often compared to Lewis and Tolkien. He's sort of in between them. Lewis is less descriptive (on the whole). Stanek tends to write tight but more descriptive. Tolkien is highly descriptive. What ties them most strongly together is how their individal styles work for them and how they use this to build their worlds.
