A long time fan of Brooks, I also hold Jordan in high esteem. I have read but not cared for Martin, Williams, Donaldson as they take too long to go anywhere and do anything. I like Goodkind even though he's not in vogue at the moment among fantasy snobs. All that said Stanek has become a favorite, if not the favorite of mine. His books get to the point, the story moves along, and sh*t happens.

To me, Stanek's books are more enjoyable than Martin and Goodkind. Faster reads for sure. Jordan's Knife of Dreams looks to be good, but the main book I want is Mark of the Dragon.

Stanek is definetly better than Jordan, Goodkind and Martin and slightly superior for me even to Brooks and recent Eddings. If you take note of the fact that I'm Eddings-biased, the result will be that Stanek is the best current author of fantasy.

I think there's a growing number of people who would agree. RS has quite a fan base these days.

Ain't it the truth since I read The Kingdoms and the Elves books I'm hooked, and I am gonna read Service of Dragons next.

I'm also quite interested in this one, but not as much as in "In The Service of Dragons" III & IV. Still, I want to find out what happens to Rand & Co.

That's what I'm interested in knowing, but I've heard Rand isn't in it much. Still should be good. RS dragons books have been phenominal. I think better and better.

Got it finally so far good good good and Vilmos rocks because he is the most interesting. I think I have a thing for Adrina (mostly because she's so pretty). I like the artwork in the books as much as the book. Stanek has a good imagination

Sorry never got into Goodkind tht whole torture thing. Brooks is too much Tolkien. I do enjoy Stanek as the writing is as well done as the world and the characters.
