Welcome to the boards titanking... RS world is amazing so much detail. The characters are all interesting at the least, even the ones you hate like Sathar and Erravane.

Staneks now high on my list of all time favorites. The plot in his books are very well done and the characters are engaging. Intelligently written.

Does the Dark Lord appears in person in books 3 & 4?

Don't want to spoil it for anyone so I won't say one way or the other.

Thanks for not spoiling it about 3 and 4. As for Stanek being better than Brooks, that's as sure as the sun rises. I've stopped reading Brooks altogether. In my lit classes, we're studying the classics, and I've tried to get discussion on Tolkien. My prof was very interested in Stanek's books when he saw me reading them, and thought they were "well written for fantasy" so long story short never got to discuss Tolkien but did get to discuss Stanek with the whole class.

Long time no see Grim! "well written for fantasy" that's funny because of the "for fantasy" like the genre is awful or something. Funny.

Lots of people don't understand fantasy or why its so popular. I read fantasy because it lets me escape from life and stuff.

Escape is good especially when you can live in other times or worlds. When you read a mystery or something set in modern times, I don't get the same feeling of excitement.

Exactly. Thrillers and so on, they are so boring.

If I didn't be able to escape from life sometimes I don't know what Id do. That's why I like fantasy so much and especially RS books.

If I had to rate my current favorite fantasy authors Goodkind and Jordan wouldn't even be in the top 10. Brooks and Stanek would be in my top5.

Stanek and Brooks are MUCH better than Jordan and Goodkind. But Stanek still writes excellent books, while recent Brooks was so-so.
