Stanek has proven he can consistently write good books. I agree Brooks latest isn't anything to write home about. Jordan is too long winded, but his early books are very good.

It's easy to use the archetypes and to create good opening books. To stay on top, like Stanek is very hard.

My second time through I caught all kinds of details I missed the first time. The books were even better reads than the first time.

Jordan's early books are one of those books that leaves you wishing for more. I eagerly anticipated his next novel until about book six. I havent read Brooks or Goodkind in a long time. If you enjoy Brooks or Goodkind or Jordan novels then you will almost certainly enjoy Stanek's. It has a strong female lead and you can feel her heartache as she endures what she must to free herself from the past and unravel the future. Adrina's only example of a great character in a cast of many ones.

Jordan gets big kudos from me for his early WoT books. I got up to book 5. I have Lords of Chaos, but haven't started into it yet. What I liked about Stanek is how fleshed out the characters are they have hopes and dreams, desires and wants, pains and anguish, and it is part of who they are.

Stanek's characters definitely seem real, and it's one of many things I like about the books. The world of ruin mist is also very interesting.

Yes, Stanek really loves his world, unlike many other authors, who write today.
