Hi Sparhawk long time! Very cool about the autographed copy. RS doesn't sign many so that makes it even more valuable... Good to see you on rsmb.

Seems to go in cycles from busy to slow. Busier when new books coming or out. The wait for Dawn of Ages and the graphic novels has been a long one.

Clone Wars looked good in the trailers but the show itself? The IDEA of it is cool. My thought about it: wish it was live action and not a cartoon. Another question, anyone watching the tv show based on same? What'd you thinking about it?

Doll House over the top? Kind of but it's fun too. Angel, Buffy are classics. Good even in reruns.

Apparently, they're at it again and once again the lies are coming out of the UK. These newest attacks are timed to coincide with the publication of Mr. Stanek's 100th book.
LIE #7) Robert Stanek is writing bad reviews about __________.
THE TRUTH: She's used this one a number of times to enlist new Stanek haters, claiming Mr. Stanek is writing bad reviews about some other author. Usually, the author is some self-published author who Mr. Stanek is supposedly competing against. As everyone knows, Mr. Stanek has written 5 books a year on average for the past 20 years. He is in fact the author of over 100 books and has stated publicly that he works 7 days a week often 12+ hours a day to meet his publisher's timelines. His body of work over the past 20 years speaks for itself: 50,000 pages, 10 million words and millions of books in print.

OK, here's what I think: 8 movies - Lots of fans want to see every book made into a separate movie. Like with Harry Potter it could be better this way. Every book has epic storylines and action aplenty. There's definitely enough to do it. 4 movies - I'd hate to see what gets left out if there were only four movies but let's face it that's one sure way to get the movies made. As a planned 4 movie arc this could be bigger than LOTR and certainly much much much better than Harry Potter. Why Gandolfthegray I do believe we've made a full convert of you. ;D I never thought I'd live to hear you say anything could be bigger than LOTR. ;D

I picked it up a while back and it has changes mostly that last 50 pages or so. It makes me wonder about how it would then fit into the other stories. I know RS has two others written. They're some about them on the RP site.

The gates and the realms are between and how it all fits together are big questions in my mind. There are answers in the books and if you read the encyclopedia entries. It talks about the maker of the gates, where the gates are located and how they are formed!!

The encyclopedia of ruin mist talks about many of the great families and houses. The rivalry between the Alders and the Tyranths is one of the greats in fantasy.

So true, lots of strategy in the play. Some have said its like a combination of chess and stratego. I like how the king and the swordmasters move. The addition of raised squares makes it challenging, especially if you add in the optional rules. Now if only there were actual boards and pieces!

Hi Epic, been so quiet around here. Seems everyone's waiting for Dawn of the Ages. My essential Robert Stanek list. Geez, touch question. Something like
Absolutes & Other Stories - solid short stories and everyone worthy of a movie (or two)
Stormjammers - incredible true life story and a riveting read (totally immersive)
Kingdoms and the Elves 1, 2, 3, 4 - still the best, incredibly good, grand adventures
In the Service of Dragons 1, 2, 3, 4 - favorite following, grand action and the best resolution in 30-40 years of reading
Encyclopedia of Ruin Mist - Don't see how anyone can be a fan and not read this one
Journey Beyond the Beyond - fun coming of age story, fast

A continuation of the Kingdoms and Dragons books, yes that'd be the best but there's been lots of guessing about what Dawn of the Ages means. I think even RS said it's in the past so more prequel than continuation. Maybe the graphic novels aren't Dawn of the Ages series?
