I want to get another thread going like the excellent Titans & Eagle Lords thread.
Like titans and eagle lords, Stanek has a unique vision for shapeshifters in his world. The wolmerrelle are like reverse werewolves. They are wolflike creatures who shift into human/humanoid form. The most powerful are able to assume forms closest to humans. The less powerful and more beastly have many heads. These traits sets them apart from all other fantasy shapeshifters/werewolves. They are real with their own mythos, as real as Stanek's goblins, elves, dragons and eagle lords.

The wolmerrelle are fascinating because of their unique history. RS creates gives them a unique mystique in his writings about them. You can't help but wonder what their evil queen will do next.

They are fascinating and a bit creepy, if you ask me. I hated them because they were trying to kill Vilmos. I am happy that he defeated them.

Heya all! The coolest thing about them was RS gave them their own society and mystique. You couldn't help but want to know about them and especially the queen.

RS gives us enough tidbits to peak interest like. He tells about the dark land they live in, about the society through their queen and their behavior. One key question remains is why Erravane wanted a human child so badly --- there has to be something significant behind it. She also was good at manipulating she got Prince William on her side and they formed some type of alliance even though it later falls apart or appears to anyway.

Erravane was one of the best villains in the books, to start off she's a shapeshifter and not any old shapeshifter but the queen. She's ruthless and cunning enough to trick a prince and maybe even a king into doing her bidding. She's also powerful... Xith could have killed her instead he cast her back. Perhaps he couldnt have killed her or he wasn't allowed too?

So far yes I'd agree Erravane was my favorite shapeshifter from the books. It was also interesting that Xith didn't kill her when he had the chance and I wondered why also or like you that maybe he couldn't have. She is crafty and maybe also powerful as she can travel between the realms. She was also able to convince Prince William to side with her.

The place the wolm are from is called Rill Akh Arr. Arr is a god or such the wolm worship as RS says so in the books. So what does Rill Akh Arr mean? My thought it like the country of Arr or Arr's country or the place of Arr. Any other thoughts?

I've wondered how the shifters fit into the history of Ruin Mist. It is interested RS mentions Arr as their god. Religions and such are a key part of the books. In the Kingdoms there are priestesses of the Great Mother and Great Father. The elves talk of Mother Earth.

Imagine if RS writes a book just about Erravane to catch us up on her evil doings! That'd be my new favorite ruin mist book.

There's been lot of talk about her lately on the boards. I hope RS reads it and agrees with all the fans about wanting to see more of her.
