The most popular series by David and Leigh is "The Belgariad", recently published into two beautiful paperback volumes. The story is about an orphan boy, Garion, who is raised by his strange and powerful aunt and a mysterious storyteller. The storyteller claims that one day the evil god Torak will awake and than only the Child of the Light will have the power to challenge him. Garion does not believe in magic - but the hideous shadow who follows his steps actually practised the dark art....

I've read The Belgariad--it was very good. I believe it was originally 5 books. Nice to hear that it in a 2 volume paperback now I might just go read it again.

Ugghhh... I seem to recall that Pug is from Raymond Feist's Magician not David Eddings. Personnally would rate Eddings as one of the top 5 fantasy authors of all time not Feist. I heard Eddings has a new book. Haven't seen it, anyone read it? This is Rogue racing away...................................>>>>>>

Yes, Pug if from the "Riftwar-Saga" by Raymond E. Feist. And I think that both are in Top5. I have read the latest book of David and Leigh Eddings. It is called "The Elder Gods" and it's the opening of a new series - "The Dreamers". Two generations of gods transfer their power to each other every 25,000 years. But now The Vlagh, a nightmare made flesh has a plan to destroy the gods in the moment of the awakenig of the new gods. Only four children, known as the Dreamers can stop the Vlagh on his course of total world domination... The book is quite good, not in the rank of "The Belgariad", but still enjoyable and original. BTW, don't be surprised that I knew so much about Eddings. I own a Bulgarian site, dedicated to him

It has been years since I read the Rift War saga. Sparhawk since you know so much about Eddings would you please post some more info about his books? I think a lot of RS readers would enjoy his stories. We could even create a section or something if you'd like.

David Eddings is born 1931 in Spokane, Washington. His first novel, "High Hunt", is a contemporary novel, but soon he turns into fields of fantasy. His first saga is "The Belgariad" (five books long), a magnifecent story of Gods, Kings and Immortal Sorcerers. It is quickly followed by "The Malloreon", a sequel-series, the last book of which, "The Seeress of Kell" was a #1 New York Times Best-Seller for 3 weeks. Then Eddings created a new world, described in the series "The Elenium" and "The Tamuli" (my favourite fantasy books). After that , he went back to the "Belgariad" with two prequel novels ("Belgarath - the Sorcerer" and "Polgara - the Sorceress") and one encyclopedia ("The Rivan Codex"). In this books, his wife, Leigh, finally was credited by the publisher as co-author. As a creator of worlds, Eddings invented two more, scene of the action of the stand-alone epic "The Redemption of Althalus" and, the lattest one - of the brand new series "The Dreamers", which started this year with "The Elder Gods". David and Leigh Eddings have written three non-fantasy novels - "High Hunt", "The Losers" and "Regina's Song". They are one of the best fantasy authors in the world and my personal favourites.
