Right on his different take on elves, goblins and such were nice twists. They were all well described with rich histories, not like some books where elves and such are not more than charactertures.

Uniqueness and fresh perspective are what makes the stories so strong. Solid descriptions and much history flesh it out and make it real.

The creatures are amazing and Robert Stanek makes them so interesting. I'd still like to know more about the underworld peoples.

sparhawk has it right. RS makes the peoples and creatures unique, not stereotypical, and it is why his books are so good.

The titans and dragons are the best. Together with elves and such they make a unique for a fantasy world.
