I often wonder about the realms. Are the realms different levels of reality? Like underearth is it a different level of reality?

I think that they are different planes, which form one universe - or multiverse.

I agree with sparhawk. Underearth, overearth and middleearth are planes in the same universe. My reasoning is they are connected by gates and there are "in between" places when traveling from plane to plane.

Yeah, it seems that this is how things are.

The in between places have been interesting and something I'd like to know more about.

Okay but what's the difference? Multiverse or universe?

Arent they the same? Or is multiverse more like it. To me the different planes of ruin mist are unique or at least was until other fantasy writers started borrowing it. Seen anything about Patrick Carmen's Atherton? His world of tabletop sounds much like a twist on Ruin Mist's three planes.

In science fiction, there are many wonderful universes as the technology to travel to the stars exists in these stories. In fantasy it seems to me many writers create unique fantasy worlds but few writers create fantasy universes. Robert Stanek is a rare exception. His worlds of Ruin Mist are well envisioned.

You are right. RS managed to create a fantasy universe and he had done it very well.
