For the new KE2, I'm not sure about changes to the text. It's full page size 8.5" x 11", so the front cover is like a mini poster. I bought it for the cover. It looks amazing on the shelf next to the KE1. On the back cover, like the KE1, there are 3 full color images! One of Vilmos battling wolmerrelle. One of Erravane. One of the battle at Quashan'. Inside there are new images with a 6 page graphic novel insert. All very cool!

Readers who taken the time to get to know RS through his thread posts and such can see quickly he's a wonderful person who truly cares. He's always been great about answering everyone's questions on RSMB. For KE2, thanks for sharing. There's a cover shot on the RP site now. It does look fantastic.

Robert Stanek's success certainly has put the indie book scene on the map. Before him there was no indie book scene like there is with music and movies. Now there is... and his success has been the driving force behind it without doubt. His success also makes him a target of big publishers (and some authors) who don't want indie books to succeed. Sad considering I read an article a few weeks back saying how 5 US publishers control 83% of the US book market. The world needs more great authors like RS! Absolutely right on. I don't want to live in a world where 5 publishers and there myriad of dozens and dozeons of imprints control the book market. A ton of indie small press authors and publishers owe Robert Stanek huge thank you's for creating the indie book scene. Without his pioneering efforts 5+ years back there'd be no indie book scene. Instead of thanks most of these are as resentful of his success as the big corporate publishers and authors. Wierd to say the least.

The most successful indie published fantasy author? I think yes by far. It does depend I think on how you define "Indie small press". Some imprints of large corporate publishers promote themselves as independents but they're not indie small press by any stretch of the imagination. Clarifying that I'd agree Stanek is the most popular indie small press author I've ever seen. He's earned his place as an exceptional writer and whatever success he's achieved so far he deserves so much more.

Thought there had to be more to the story and wanted to read what happened next or at least get more about the story. It'd be awesome.

Imagine this as a full-length novel? I think it could be Stanek's "Ender." He does an excellent job of portraying Ev's motivations and resolve. In a full-length work he could explore the setting and build out the back stories.

Stanek's "Silence is Golden" reminded me of Philip K D-ick in a way too. Very well drawn and I keep hoping he'll make it into a full-length work. "August Rains" is kind of haunting in its own way as well. But right now I'd list "Absolutes" as my favorite. Now that would make a great sf movie.

As the admin of this board, I wanted to relay the reply I received from Robert's publisher when I recently contacted them about the shenanigans being used to harrass Robert's readers:
Thank you for your concerns. We are aware of the problem, but were not aware these individuals were now sending threats to readers. Sending death threats to children is going way too far. We have tried to resolve this matter without having to take legal action against these individuals. As these individuals have elected to continue in their harassment of our authors and our readers despite warnings, they’ve left us with no alternative but to hand this matter over for prosecution. Damages to our company and our authors extend into the millions of dollars.
Stephen Leigh, Karin Scold, Jeff Darcy, and others who are instigating these problems are equally liable. We have not previously, nor has anyone on our behalf previously, sent out notification of these criminal and civil suits. The email being discussed was sent as a hoax by one of these individuals to cause further harm to our company and our authors. Perhaps when these individuals have liens against their homes, vehicles and businesses, they won’t think needlessly harassing others is so fun anymore.
Our message to Stephen Leigh, Karin Scold, Jeff Darcy, and others who are causing these problems is this: Clean up the mess you made while you can. Remove your hate speech. Make right what you made wrong. Your public apology to us and our authors is a start.

Much of fantasy is simply fun reading, and that's what I liked about Arianna's story. Plus its a step up from Artemis Fowl and the like.

The wolmerrelle are sinister but are the dark elves? When Vilmos was in under earth and there were goblims and demons so it seems to be. Dragons and titans are as interesting I must admit.
