Hello All,
Been a busy couple of months, with lots of good news for my books. Thanks to the fans as ever! On to the questions, here's the post:
sparhawk, you're welcome!
rogue, Delinna is Adrina's sister, when a woman becomes a priestess she must take a new name and symbolically give up her past life.
dungeonmaster, good question. Emel's horse was a gift from the king for services to the kingdom, the horse is so-named because it is black in color and very fast. As a princess, Adrina has many horses. I'm sure one of these days her favorite's name will be revealed. In Ruin Mist, there is Under-Earth, Middle-Earth and Over-Earth, in the ancient past these lands were all connected, they may be again in the future, but the future is always uncertain. If you missed on the book signing, I hope to do another in the fall.
epic, a pleasure to hear! As for the brotherhood and East Reach, I think you will learn a lot more about both soon, unravelling the secrets of the dark elves may take a bit longer.
darktower, glad you liked the dragon king, you'll see more of dragons in the later books but maybe not as soon as you hope.
evenstar, you're welcome!
mambogirl, on dragons see earlier, as for giants, titans, trolls, I think there's no few surprises ahead.
shire hobbit, you're welcome!
spiderqueen, big hint, king's mate is more than a game for some in Ruin Mist, for hints on Edward's motivations go back to what Xith says about him, you may find what you are looking for. The thing you have to know about hunter beast is there are persistent, very persistent.
drd, Adrina and Emel share a common past, so sure they'll be more about they're early days. As for Myrial, she is will be in more of the story.
bl25run, thank you, hope to have more news on the next books shortly.
vilmostabborath, good to hear. The next Magic Lands book is called Into the Stone Land, the title should be somewhat of a hint, Ray and Kerry are going on a long journey.

The role-playing and trading card game discussions continue. My preference is to continue my own development with the new game system.

I think the news Shire Hobbit wants me to share is from my blog post which many of you may already know if you subscribe to one of the newsletters. Here goes:
Dear Readers,
2004 continues to be a terrific year for my books and I owe it all to fans and their support. I'm pleased to report my books have won a number of small press awards including:
Best Children's Book of the Year for 2003 - The Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches
Best Fantasy Book of the Year for 2003 - Kingdom Alliance
These and the other awards mean so much to me because they come from fans and from the small press community. Equally as rewarding is seeing the books used in classrooms. Over 250 schools in the U.S. have started using the books and I continue to thank all the educators who have taken the books under their wings.
Translation and rights news continues to grow. My book Magic Lands: Journey Beyond the Beyond is being considered for adaptation as a feature animation. I should have more details on this in the coming months. Translations of my books are in progress or in discussion for the following languages: Chinese, Korean, Russian, Bulgarian, Japanese, Finnish, Danish, Spanish and German.
Thanks again for all your support! It is truly a pleasure to hear from excited readers and learn about how the books have touched their lives.

Hello All,
Been a busy couple of months, good to be able to continue the chat. Here we go on to the questions...
Shire Hobbit, the pleasure is indeed mine. The board is quite well done, nothing is distracting. I suspect that's why it is the most popular message board for my work.
edog, you're most welcome. I truly enjoy hearing from fans although it is now nearly impossible to reply to every email I get. As far as a movie of Ruin Mist, we're very early in that, it's not outside the realm of possibility, there's been several discussions, without more creative control I won't accept any offers, however. Plus the fan base needs to be much bigger to make it work.
gMan, you've done a great job with the board, I really mean that. I've seen some other boards for my work, this is the coolest. Shh, don't tell anyone I said that, oops I'm posting this online, too late.
Hope more fans understand that, alternatives are needed, for me sticking with the small press was a choice, I've turned down offers from people who didn't want to take the time to understand my work, but did see dollar signs because of the growing popularity. Not that I wouldn't/won't take an offer in the future, it'd have to be the right one for the right reasons.
warrior25, without going into details, I think it is going to be delayed, I have completed the draft for Elf Queen and the King III, IV, Fields of Honor, expecting Spring 2005 publication. These will be the next Ruin Mist related books to be published.
Sparhawk, I have a particular fondness of Xith and Vilmos myself, many of the characters have some basis on real people, Vilmos included.
dragonlord, having heard from many readers who feared the same, rest assured Emel is not out of the story. He might not be back as soon as you'd hope however. You're welcome as well, good luck with your writing.
bl25run, many readers have created role-play campaigns based on the books, I think fine but I wouldn't want there to be an unofficial roleplay book. Progress is being made on official books, likely d20-based. Magic Lands #2 is called "Into the Stone Land" it was due out this year but given some unfortunate events, all the publication dates for the books got pushed back at least a year.
keeperofdreams, see previous on Emel, in the time of titans, elves and men were enslaved, giants, titans and dragons ruled. Best I can do on Soshi is tell you she is connected to the story in more ways than you might think. Soshi gave Valam a gift of sorts. Elf Queen and the King III, IV, Fields of Honor are next. As far as dragons, possibly.
GLH, suggest you read "Writer's Market" and get a book on manuscript writing, these days almost every writer uses a computer, very few write stories on paper any more, but if it works for you it works. Thanks for the compliment, sales of my books are good, I am happy with where they are. Harry Potter books have been around since 1997 so they've got a 5-year head start, not expecting to catch up any time soon.
Evenstar, some answers are in the upcoming books, for others the wait will be a bit longer. You may be on the right track for Vilmos, close to the mark so to say, a hint. The truth about his mother has been hinted, it will become more clear, and I hope very revealing about what is really happening in the story. The last movie I saw was Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, it was exceptional.
Trancemist, Elf Queen and the King III, IV, Fields of Honor are more about the world of Ruin Mist and the changes, some truths are revealed/hinted at. Others will be more clear in later books.
liquidxpop, good to hear, surprises me to hear how many times readers have read the books. Glad someone watched that show....it would be an honor to read and respond to your emails. If you send a group email or a couple that way it is easier for me.
Thanks to all the fans who continue to support my books! Until next time... Hope you'll tell your friends about the books.
The Fourth Comes!

It is big news, I'll respond right here in the group where every one can see.
The nomination of Kingdoms Alliance in the category of Best International Fantasy/Horror Book of 2003 was welcome news—and a pleasant surprise. It is ever a delight to hear from those who have enjoyed reading the books. I hope you will continue to tell others about the books and that someday the books are published in your native language as well.

Wanted to get back with a post before the holiday as promised. Hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday.
dragonlady, you're welcome. I think there is a lot in store for Emel, more than you might think. Fields of Honor is about the battle for Great Kingdom. How's that for a hint?
xxmarcoxx, can't give away characters I play or servers that's the fun of playing anonymously.
nightwraith, glad everyone is having a good time with the thread, can't promise Erravane is going to have her child king.
epic, all the covers have hidden images, things to look for, including Ruin Mist Chronicles, look for creatures as well as objects
jediknight, I can tell you that she left this plane of existence, can't guarantee she will ever make an appearance again in the books.
sparhawk, you're welcome, glad you've come to the board
ShireHobbit, I hope it stays a fun thing for everyone as well
rogue, enjoy the shirt, I've a quasi-sequel to Sovereign Rule planned nothing final, glad you like the books.
edog, well, there are no absolutes, it is a possibility - to what extend will depend on the success of my works. I like strong women in books as well, good to hear Adrina, Midori and Myrial come across as intended.
gMan, the synopsis provides a better hint at the story than I'm able to. Fields of Honor is about the battle for Great Kingdom.
jj, as I mentioned, don't publish a manuscript to the Internet that puts in in the public domain, believe that you can make it, give yourself five years minimum to break in, set realistic goals, be professional in all correspondence with publishers even after rejection letters, submit queries to the attention of individual editors, read Writer's Market, subscribe to Writer's Digest, go write some great stuff
mambogirl, I don't have favorites, I'm having lots of fun writing about all the characters, I will write about them as long as people want to read about them. I do like Adrina, Emel, Myrial as well as Vilmos, Seth, Xith, Valam.
darktower, Vilmos is following the path of the Human Magus as taught by Xith, the spells he has now are the spells he was meant to learn at this stage of his training
huntress, doing the artwork is as much fun as writing, I hope to be able to continue doing my own art for the books. Thank you for the compliment.
narycrossthepond, you're welcome, glad you've come to the boards
keeperofdreams, Ray sees his world from his perspective as does Kerry, so from Ray's perspective it would be a water-soaked world, I can tell you that I am working on a companion
gMan, Ruin Mist is a world arisen from the ashes of lost peoples and its realms are shrouded in mystery, hence Ruin Mist 2. Writing first person is tough, but rewarding. I've written several short stories in the first person as well as a novel. Problem is with fantasy in true first person, I can't really describe what's going on away from the current character's own personal battle. 3. Yes
EmelBrodst, and to you and yours!
GLH, yes, I do the books on computer - a couple of computers, actually. I break books into files (usually based on chapters), writing 5-6 pages a day.
jj, I think it's premature to say, there will be campaign settings for sure, how many, what type can't say at this time
bl25run, I wish it were that easy, premature on talking firm details on RPG, there will be a guide, don't know if there will be seperate player and dm guides
cincblue, and to you and yours! yes, more dragons for certain, dragons are key to over-earth
Transmist, can't give details away on Vilmos, you'll have to read the next book
Well there you go, until next time.... Happy Holidays!
Dare to Dream
