Kind of hilarious that this board has ONE new post in ELEVEN years and this same ONE person shows up to diss. So I edited it to be civil. Poor pitiful thing is insane... The Devil Writes Romance Books

Thank you to all the readers who continue to believe in and support my books! I promised Shire Hobbit some time ago I'd have time for another chat but I've been so jammed up these past few years I haven't had many free moments.
If you track my book list at my publisher's site, you probably know why. In 2006-2007, I completed work on a new line of children's picture books, the Bugville Critters and now the first 12 books are being published:
The Bugville Critters Visit Dad and Mom at Work (2007) (RP Books Kids) The Bugville Critters Go to School (2007) (RP Books Kids) The Bugville Critters Visit Garden Box Farms (2007) (RP Books Kids) The Bugville Critters Have A Sleepover (2007) (RP Books Kids) The Bugville Critters Go on Vacation (2008) (RP Books) The Bugville Critters Rush to the Hospital (2008) (RP Books) The Bugville Critters Play Their First Big Game (2008) (RP Books) Too Much Sweets (Buster Bee's School Days) (2008) (RP Books) Make New Friends (Buster Bee's School Days) (2008) (RP Books) Vacation Surprise (Buster Bee's School Days) (2008) (RP Books) Bugville Critters Treasury Volume 1 (2008) (RP Books) Bugville Critters Treasury Volume 2 (2008) (RP Books)
For Ruin Mist fans, there's also good news. I finished work on several companion books and new editions in 2006 and 2007, and these are starting to be published. These are:
Keeper Martin's Guide to the Fantastical Beasts and Faerie Peoples of Ruin Mist (2007) (RP Books) Keeper Martin’s Tale, Special Illustrated Edition (Ruin Mist Chronicles) (2007) (RP Books) The Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches III, Special Illustrated Edition (2008) (RP Books) Kingdom Alliance, Special Illustrated Edition (2009) (RP Books) Illustrated Encyclopedia of Ruin Mist: The Essential Reader's Guide (2008) (RP Books) The Art of Ruin Mist: Heroes and Villains (2008) (RP Books) The Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches IV, Special Illustrated Edition (2009) (RP Books)
I hope you enjoy these new editions and companion books. Look also for "Absolutes and Other Stories" in 2008 and "Into the Stone Land" in 2009.
Post your questions, say hi, talk in this thread. I will get back with responses later in the spring.
Oh well, back to work!
Thank you!

Shire Hobbit posting on RS behalf...
Hi everyone, another batch of answers to questions...
bigone, thank you, glad to hear you like the books.
stripes, I enjoy the chats as well, hopefully I won't be so jammed up on time for later chats, as far as the number 4, it does have numerical significance, the fourth has arrived
huntress, thank you jo, the characters are all real to me, and like friends, thank you
chillidog, glad you like Magic Lands, the story collection is becoming very popular.
bdie, thank you, hope you get to read the dragon books
titanluvr, I talked about Emel previously, personally, Emel's complete adventures should be written, and I hope to be able to do it.
grayeaglelord, no movie news, this was disappointing and not expected. The game news is good, check reagentpress.com
dragonrunner, the dragon books are the last for a while, a mystery and a military adventure coming out next year. Readers will determine whether/when more Ruin Mist novels are written.
tammyk, the reading order I prefer is The Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches #1,#2,#3,#4 then In the Service of Dragons #1,#2,#3,#4 then The Elf Queen and the King #1,#2,#3,#4. This is not the published order, and it must be mentioned The Elf Queen and the King books are not new stories, but another view of the same story.
petesgirl, thank you, I'm catching up
GrimReaper, Battle for Ruin Mist will be rpg, there were to be related novels, Ruin Mist Dawn of Ages, were to be novels.
gamequeen, previous posts provided some advice, hope you'll read it. The key is persistence and hard work.
More answers to come...
Thank you!
The Fourth has arrived,

Shire Hobbit posting on RS behalf...
Hi everyone, another batch of answers to questions...
tinmo, Spanish editions are starting to come out, for German editions it may be Carlsen or Dhv are the publisher, you should contact them to find out. I think everyone misses Emel and would like Emel, Myrial, and Adrina all to be good friends. More king's mate and trios eventually.
tennisg, so many readers have asked about king's mate rules, I made sure the publisher put the rules in the new editions of The Kingdoms & the Elves of the Reaches books, check book #3. Toys R Us does not carry indie games, the game boards are produced independently.
epic, see above, Emel and Adrina's future is ahead of them
warrior25, simply didn't have any free time to post
Sparhawk, thank you, I hope the battle scenes are detailed enough so readers see how chaotic a battle actually is, and also the involvement of the many characters.
AdrinaAlder, thank you, I hope you do become a writer some day. No movie news to share.
Jay, I'm glad your teacher told you about my books, I'll try to keep writing
tonyj, hi, and hi to cody, jason, lee, and alex, so good to heare Vilmos, Adrina, Emel, and Myrial have become like friends.
keeperofdreams, 16 times is an incredible amount, glad you like my books, I try to visualize all the characters in my mind as I write, to me they are very real, and it's so good to hear from readers that the characters are real to them too. Glad you like the illustrations.
More answers to come...
Thank you!

Shire Hobbit posting on RS behalf...
Hi folks. Thank you to all the readers who continue to believe in and support my books! I've been so jammed on time I haven't been able to post. Many book events lately and deadlines have kept me incredibly busy. I enjoyed meeting other authors and talking with readers.
I have to start timing my blog posts until after I go to book events. Readers already knew the news I was planning to share on Battle for Ruin Mist: The Roleplaying Game. My publisher has seen strong gaming platform interest, particularly in the rule sets I developed.
The biggest news is "Mark of the Dragon" is officially released. That's the final book for this year.
If I don't get a chance to post again, I hope everyone has a good holiday season.
On to the questions...
Shire Hobbit, thank you for getting the chat started. I appreciate all the work you've done and the boards look terrific.
huntress, as long as people are reading the books, I'll keep writing. I'd be lying if I didn't say I was extremely disappointed with the shenanigans going on at a time when my books are at their highest popularity ever. As an example, my publisher took out a 4-page spread in the Spring 2005 Buyer's Guide to Children's Books. The publisher listings disappeared from the distribution database where bookstores make their buys. When they were restored, the age listings were changed so the books appeared to be toddler picture books. That kind of stuff doesn't happen by accident. The short of the long answer is my hearts not in writing anymore at this time.
warrior25, I do hope to write about Emel's adventures in and return from the Minor Kingdoms. Eldrick is there in spirit, if you do a close read you'll see what I mean. He may return when you least expect.
epic, language, like a sword unused, dulls over time, my language skills extend to German, Spanish, Russian, and Korean. The language of the Reach elves is based on slavic dialects. The language of Ayrian is based on various dialecs of native American indians. Much of the culture and history of Under Earth is based on that of the peoples of Asia. The history of Greye is based on the history of the three kingdoms of Korea.
dungeonmaster, thank you... my original artwork for the In the Service of Dragons books will be on the economy
editions, coming out in 2006 (tentative). The Ruin Mist RPG is not d20 or d&d based. I've developed entirely new rule sets and from which new platforms can be built.
petesgirl, hi! thank you...so far only the Turkish edition covers, more king's mate and more trios to come, hopefully. See Emel previous, and can't say on Adrina, but I'm hopeful for her.
More answers to come...
Thank you!
The Fourth has arrived,
Robert Stanek

Hi Everyone.
Thank you for all the kind messages over these pasts months. A VERY late Happy New Year to all.
I'm pleased to be able to share with you some major news. First of all, the new ruinmist.com site is completed. I hope you'll agree ruinmst.com is a truly excellent site for the books. There's even a hidden quiz.
More good news? If the current schedule holds In the Service of Dragons #1 will come out in March and In the Service of Dragons #2 will come out in May. In May, Fields Of Honor will also be published.
Best, and thank you as ever,
Robert Stanek

Hi folks. Once again, incredibly jammed and keeping up with all the deadlines has to be my #1 priority, so I apologize that I can't answer everyone's questions right now. I'm pleased to say treks to several recent book events have been tremendous--when you have books about to be published in 20 countries people start to listen to you even if you are an indie press author. The best part, as ever, was hearing from true fans, and all those who believe in my work. Thank you, as ever.
I'm pleased to be able to share with you several things I hope you'll be as excited about as I am. I've completed the long work on the Fields of Honor Mark of the Dragon covers, they are posted on roberstanek.com. Work has started on audio editions of the books, and there's several cool, least I think so, audio downloads on roberstanek.com. Hope you enjoy them!
Best, and happy holidays,
Robert Stanek

freakshow some secrets are secrets, it would be kind of a spoiler to know. In my mind they are great spirits in the American Indian sense, so you could interpret as gods.
ejorn Emel isn't out of the story, but it will be some time before he's back. I would enjoy France, hope to take my book tour to Europe some day.
warrior25 you are welcome, being a watcher is a pivotal role in the changing of the ages, all I'm going to say. Xith is both (he's a gnomic drawf). Oops did I give away too much?
darktower thank you, spring
dragonlady the delays were due to change in pub plans. Yes, yes, yes for more about the past, the history of Ruin Mist is key to the story.
Well off to work on my writing...
The Fourth Comes

Trying to keep this going...
vickie Elf Queen and the King III and IV are set for next year as well, but don't tell a new story as much as retell
greg, a Sovereign Rule sequel is planned, not yet written. It'd have to be much more popular to be on audio. Audio books are planned for KEotR and other books.
xxdrakxx My background as a linguist and extensive travels helps with both, plus I've always loved unique names
scifiwriter I write to make a living, not as glamorous at it seems. Most often I don't have a choice as to when I write, I write until the work is done, especially on a deadline.
nichole I don't know, I find it flattering there's so much interest in movies from my books.
rtree Sure, it is a great idea. Like I said I'm flattered there's so much interest.
tshepperd why thank you! best to yours as well!
rshepperd thank you, glad it's a guilty pleasure
cincblue working on it, let everyone know when I know
nichole more on him in the upcoming books, hope you can wait, so get ready for a treat.
drd think of an oversized leopard, tall enough and strong enough to ride, but sleek enough to be fast.

Hello all, back from my recent trip spiderqueen, thank you for your kind words dungeonmaster, you'll be surprised I think to find In the Service of Dragons I and II are coming in the spring, don't have the details on the foreign editions yet but hope to soon. As for covers, I have a surprise, see my next post. keeperofdreams, thank you, I see all the books as one continuing story, so yes. epic, my artwork is a blend of digital photography and digital art, Adobe Photoshop mostly, the art is available at www.cafepress.com/ruinmistgearkari, some secrets are best kept secret, wolmerrelle are shapechangers, but not lycanthropes in my mind, they can have 1, 2, or more heads, it's a power thing and how strong they are connected to their (human) past edog, I love that idea, wish it was true, no news to share. sparhawk, don't know the official date, spring for I and II, see the surprise in my next post, can't say about Arr, have to wait and see. glh, thank you, it would be a pleasure alex, welcome to the boards, hope to tour again in 2005, don't know specific stops. adrinaalder, let me think on that, I do like the siggys vilmostabborrath, thank you, wish more people read that one, no more stories about Ev or Kryztof yet, wouldn't rule it out adragon, many, many authors, too many to name all debbieg, welcome to the board, you are right, in my mind Adrina is 15 at the start, she has green eyes. Her hair is black. ruinmist4ever welcome to the board, Ruin Mist isn't a shared world now , but doesn't mean that won't change. clearlak, 4, it is a quartet, like KEotR. After, I can't say yet. more coming...
