To me it seems more extensive than what's in the books. It's like nearly 200 pages so it has much more in it. There are whole sections on the great families and houses of the kingdoms for example, plus some cool things I hadn't seen anywhere else like on weights, measures and money.

I was surprised the companion books were so well done. I love them.
I'd like to see the pix as full size posters. Now that'd be eyepopping.

Keeping the faith and hoping the RPG will be out. I know there are many players testing the system. I keep hearing about it but I want the finished RPG.

Truly good to see more oldtimers back. It says loads about how great Stanek's books are and how much they mean to us.

Oh man, tough to pick only 3 top favorites! I pick Kingdoms and the Elves 2 as my top favorite because that's the one where I knew Robert Stanek was my favorite and the best. I like In the Service of Dragons 1 for similar reasons but also because I was so happy the story was continuing.

Adrina and Vilmos are the best.

I think the case for 8 movies is better as this is how Robert wanted the story to be told. With all the goings on there is a compelling story to tell in each movie and it would open up the world and the characters like never before. Any one who likes fantasy would want to see them especially with all the twists Robert puts in. I think they could build up the romance stories too from the beginning especially the great love between Delinna and Captain Brodst. Not to miss out on the love story of King Andrew and his queen, that could be worked in in flashbacks to help understand the depths of his sorrow and why it clouds his thoughts.

Ok so I'm reading all these "literary classics" for English lit two years in a row now. I can't help but roll my eyes sometimes at how poorly drawn the characters are and how out of place some of threads seem. I've learned to like the classics but I don't love them. The writing doesn't speak to me in the way a good modern work does and I can't help but compare them to works I love like Stanek's. Not only are Stanek's Kingdoms and Dragons books well written but they have all the qualities that make classics classics. One aspect I rarely see anyone talk about is the deep sense of romantisism.
Tolkien said his stories on a deep level were romances. Staneks are obviously so as well. The great love story in the book is the love between Captain Brodst and Delinna. There love spans decades and it takes all eight books to get to the truth of their love. A romantic tragedy to rival the best of the great tragedies that can only be understood in retrospect or by rereading the books.

Amir and Noman would be at the top of my list for the dragon books followed by Evgej and Nijal. I liked the strong bond between Calyin and Edwar and their passion for each other.

The Alder family is the most interesting in the stories. Adrina, Valam, Calyin, Delinna, Andrew all become friends and it is sad what happens.
