Well obviously, the start of the book has to introduce you to the world and what's going on, so it can't really be actionpacked. The beginning moved at a slower pace than the rest of the book, but for a good reason. Other than that, I like how there are so many different races of people in the Ruin Mist world and how they don't fit into the fantasy sterotypes we see in almost every fantasy book. The creativity behind developing all of these peoples really interested me.
