Back on track... What amazes me is Stanek's skill at weaving his story. The plotlines are all interconnected (even if it doesn't seem that way at first) and consequences of some character's actions years ago affect what happens now in the story. Despite this being a fact of life, not many writers capture this so well. For instance, I wonder if King Jarom would have betrayed King Andrew if the marriage had gone through with his daughter. Or if Seth would have had an easier time if elves hadn't betrayed humans at the beginning of the age.

Not only that Stanek is the only author who has ever answered my email AND he's answered several of them. How cool is that?
Talking about history I found the history fascinating. It is amazing how every character has a history and the history impacts them in the story now.

I found the history of Ruin Mist to be fascinating as well. The whole thing with Midori (Delinna) particularly. I think she is central to the story in so many ways even though we haven't seen much of her in the books so far.

Back to Midori was it a great bit of luck that she became part of his life, since he almost ended up going into oblivion because of his magic and would have been gone without her? Or was there something else? Xith hints at Midori's connection and role to play but I want to know what it all means. Neither Xith nor Midori planned what happened, obviously, it was a seeming random set of circumstances which led to their joining forces. Another instance that his mere presence could have had a fate twisting effect on them and others.

Delinna is Midori's given name at birth. It's in Ruin Mist Heroes and Legends and been talked about on RSMB before. For the other stuff I think you're missing the point. I think it was all planned at least on Xith's part.

Xith is enigma... don't think we're supposed to understand him like Gandolf and all the other great wizards.

Hope so Xith is a gnome! He's like a really cool Gandolf.

Always thought of Xith differntly like a wizard but not a wizard. He's the watcher of the north.

Elves and humans not being buddy buddy is one thing I liked too...it gives the whole thing a twist that makes the story so much better
