Oh and Shire Hobbit within minutes of you posting the movie news and announcing to fans this lovely missive was posted to Amazon:
Huge disappoint--poorly written, DEFINITELY not to be compared with HP and Narnia!, September 15, 2005
Reviewer: Asperger's Mom "Sarikfan" (Twin Cities, MN United States) - See all my reviews If I were grading this as a submission to a high school creative writing class, I would give it a D+--simply for persistence. What a poorly written, confusing creation this is! We are fans of much children's literature, new and old, and this is the only book that we have read that we have decided not to finish it. The book is in the trash. We wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
The intro rates this as a book for 9 to 12 year olds. It's very interesting, then, that a veteran reader and critic of children's literature, pushing half a century, can't make heads or tales of the story line and finds the language stilted and awkward. Half way through the book, my 10 year old son keeps asking if I know what is really going on.
To compare this to Harry Potter, Narnia, or anything else on the upside of "fair" is just plain ludicrous. The 5 star reviews can't be from the general reading public! It deservces "0."
HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT AND WASTE OF MONEY.
Your hunch was dead on, my friend. That's like the fourth or fifth time you've announced news and that's happened.
or how far they will go to make a few bucks(just thought i'd add on)
Did you know that Harry Potter's face is so ugly his appearence in Pooh's Hepalump Movie made it rated R for intense horror. Harry Potter is so fat when he stepped on a scale used to weigh semi trucks, it said, "whoa there! One at a time please. " and broke.
