Everyone has tastes and likes different things. Tolkien is amazing and brilliant, so is RS.

RS has a different style than most, much of the scenes go by fast. I got to know the characters much more, so I felt I knew them.

RS work is strong because there are so many strong characters and you can't help but care about them. The world of Ruin Mist is deep and interesting too.

The ancient heroes are as interesting as those in current times. Imagine what ruin mist must have been when the eagle lords and titans and dragons roamed? Amazing to think about. The history of elves and men as well.

The history is what makes it as interesting as Tolkien. Not many authors bother to create so rich a history for their world first. Most authors create it as they go so in that respect RS has created a magnificent work.

Yes. He told me in an interview, that first he created the history of Ruin Mist.
